The Keepsakes Worth Planning Ahead For

Handmade can't be rushed, and the calendar fills up. Here's how to make sure the meaningful gift actually arrives on time.

The hardest message I get is “I need it by Saturday” for something that takes weeks of handwork. I hate saying no to a deadline that matters — so here's the gentle version of planning ahead, with the occasions these pieces are made for and when to start.

When to start

  • The holidays — for a custom pet portrait, start in October and allow 8–10 weeks, with extra room for shipping. December slots fill fast, so ask about availability before counting on a holiday arrival.
  • Mother's & Father's Day — the pet or kid hoop that wrecks them in the best way. Give a pet portrait 8–10 weeks, plus shipping time. For a child's artwork hoop, message me early with your date so we can confirm the timing for your piece.
  • Baby showers — order once your 2D ultrasound scan is in hand, comfortably ahead of the shower date. Share that date when you inquire so we can check availability before you make plans around it.
  • Memorials & anniversaries — there's no schedule for grief, but if a date is coming up, earlier is kinder to both of us. For a pet memorial portrait, allow the same 8–10 weeks and extra time for delivery.

Why the lead time exists

I take a limited number of commissions each month so every piece gets real care. That cap is what keeps the quality high — and what makes planning ahead worth it.

A lead time isn't a promise that there's an open slot for every date. When you get in touch, tell me the occasion and when you need the gift in hand, not just the day you plan to give it. We can talk through the piece and the timing before you commit.

If there's a date you're already dreading or anticipating, message me before you think you need to. Future-you will be so glad.

Tell me about your occasion and request a custom keepsake.
